Eurovision-ing

(My favourite is the smallest lady-she is way too cute.)

Let's talk Eurovision! For those of you who don't know, Eurovision is a European music contest where all of Europe's nations compete for one title. I have to admit, I was never a big fan of the competition, mainly due to the fact that the singers representing Slovakia (where I'm from) were always shitty. This year though, I got into it mainly due to the Russian ladies, Buranovskiye Babushky,  that are in my opinion the bravest and greatest out of all of the competitors from this year's Eurovision.

Quite frankly, I am not the greatest of fans of this year's winner, Loreen from Sweden, although the more I listen to her song Euphoria, the more I like it. In my opinion, there are better Swedish musicians out there that would deserve the title more. I loved the outfit Loreen wore while performing (above).

Miro Smajda during Slovak Idol                   MS now known as Max Jason Mai during Eurovision

When I checked who was representing Slovakia, I was taken aback because I was not familiar with the name of the artist - I soon found out though, that he was in fact a competitor of the Slovak version of American Idol a couple years back. He changed his name, which is in my opinion quite comical. His real name is Miro Smajda, but now he is known as Max Jason Mai. Not a great name to be honest.

My favourite contestant was the Italian singer, Nina Zilli. Her style of singing is a mix of Adele and Amy Winehouse while her sense of fashion is a mix of Amy Winehouse with a hint of Yukimi from Little Dragon. I think her song Lamore e Femmina has a lot of attitude. You can really feel that the woman she is singing about is a sexy and strong woman.
