On My Wishlist: Beachwear

The long awaited summer has finally come to grace our senses and closets. Although in winter my closet is predominantly monochrome, summer brings about my inner flower goddess and rainbow loving alter ego.
I always have an inkling to revamp my closet for the turn of the seasons, and this summer is not any different.

When it comes to beachwear though, I prefer to keep it classy which for me, means black or white....everything.

Here are my beachwear must haves:

1. Bathing Suit (duh)

I personally love one piece bathing suits because they make me look taller, slimmer, and chicer. I take all the help I can get. The one above is a perfect mix of chic, camouflage and comfort.
Get it here or for more bathing suits click here.

2. Cover up

Cover ups are essential when spending time at the beach or by the pool. I like items that are airy because sunscreen tends to make my skin sticky, so the less fabric that touches my skin the better.
Get the one above here or similar here

3. A Wide Brim Hat

Protecting your head and face from the sun's rays is so important. Spending time in the sun is fun but sun burn is anything but fun. I love this one in particular because of the cute pompoms. It adds such a nice and unique touch to your beach outfit.

3. Sunglasses

Sunglasses are such a great accessory, not only do they make you look stylish, they protect your eyes from the sun and prevent wrinkles (no squinting). Find a similar style here.

4. Beach Towel

If you're going to get a beach towel, why not make it cute? I'm obsessed with palm prints at the moment. This beach towel is great because it's round, it has little tassels all around the edges, and it has a palm print. Can't get any better than this. You can get it here or other palm printed things here

Don't forget an awesome book that you can read. Currently I'm enjoying The Woman I Wanted To Be by Diane von Furstenberg.

Winter Staple: The Turtleneck

'Tis the season to be bitterly cold, lalalala lala la. Since the snow and chills have been rolling in for the past couple of days, I developed a new obsession: turtlenecks. Not only are they super stylish and "in" this season, they also keep you and your neck super warm. I find that whenever my neck is exposed to the chilly breath of winter, my body is colder that much more. With turtlenecks, I can stay warm even inside (University classrooms feel like they're air-conditioned all year round!) without having to keep my scarf on and develop slight claustrophobia (scarves are restrictive ). They make you look so effortlessly cool and chic. It's a basic that is timeless and so versatile. You can dress them up or make yourself look casually chic with one.

A Few Things I've Been Loving

I've been reading this book on my iPad and so far I love it. I hated reading anything on my iPad because my eyes always hurt, or I made myself believe that the brightness of the screen was making my eyes sore. With this book however, that issue has vanished. I started reading 1Q84 on a flight because the only book I brought with me was The Fault In Our Stars, and for some reason I was not in the mood for reading it. I have a hard time getting into books at the beginning but with Murakami's book, I got sucked in right away. I highly recommend reading it. It is unconventional with easy to understand language, yet it is still beautifully written. There are some unexpected turns, especially when you begin to get to know the two main characters, Aomame and Tengo, as you read on.

I have long been a fan of monochrome outfits. In fact, my closet is basically a gradient of black, gray, and white. I am massively obsessed with Swedish style, and style blogs in general. Victoria Tornegren keeps all of my obsessions satisfied. She posts snaps of her monochrome outfits daily.

A lot of birthdays are coming up  in my friend and family circles, including mine! I saw this cake by Design Love Fest and instantly fell in love. How can you not! My goal is to make this cake for someone or for my own birthday!

See Design Love Fest's post here.

I've been obsessed with making lists, it's such an easy way to keep your thoughts together and your life as well as brain organized. Also, whenever I get asked what I would like for my birthday, I never have an answer, so I decided I would make a wish-list to keep my "wishes" organized and at the ready. I was also looking for an app or a website that would keep all of my links to things that I would like stored and organized, but failed to find anything that was worthwhile. Then, the blogger, youtuber, mommy, and the nicest person on the internet, Hannah Maggs, mentioned that her husband Stefan is launching an app that is like Pinterest for your wishes. I can't wait for it to launch sometime soon!!!
