Greek Beauty

Kalimera Kriti offered products from the Greek cosmetics brand Korres. The products are made from natural plant and herb extracts without any harmful ingredients like parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, etc. The company is sort of like The Body Shop but a little more expensive. The shampoo pictured above is not your typical shampoo smell which is kind of refreshing, to be able to have your hair smell a little different. It honestly smells organic like the herbs themselves. Not like they tried to recreate the "natural" smell of the particular herbs, like some companies do and try to sell the products as "natural".

The body products were also really nice. The particular body wash I used was with Green Tea and the smell was a bit "manly" for my taste, but it still smelled really nice. The body lotion was really hydrating though. When I put it on my sunburned skin it brought back the moisture to my epidermis.

Rocky Island

Two weeks ago I had the chance to vacation on the Greek island Crete. Specifically at the Kalimera Kriti hotel pictured above. The name actually means good morning Crete, which is quite a good idea for a hotel name. It was beautiful. The service was amazing. After the second night the waiters already knew what I was going to order to drink which was Fanta lemon. So it was nice to see that without saying anything I would already have my drink on the table by the time I got back from the buffet. The food was also amazing, all Greek and delicious. The hotel had a series of little houses with one, two, or four rooms in each, or there was an option of the classic "all rooms in one building" setup. It was perfect for children and older couples seeking to get away from their stressful lives into a quiet a calm setting. So not as exciting for younger generations, like myself.  On the other hand, it was quite relaxing with the choice of golfing and water sports which was a big plus. 

On the day of our departure we had some time to go and visit the Palace of Knossos, which was built by King Minos. It used to be the capital of Crete back in 3300 b.c. and was the centre of the  Minoan culture. This is a reconstruction drawing of the Palace. 

And this is what it looks like now. It is still quite an experience to see the ruins even though it is a whole bunch of blocks of stones. There was lots of pottery that were "fresh" looking and pillars as well as whole rooms that you could admire. 

I just wanted to share this photo with you because I thought it was beautiful. I took it from the airplane flying into Heraklion, the capital city of Crete.
