Celebration

Today I wanted to celebrate my country. The Ice Hockey World Championship is in Slovakia this year and all of Slovakia is trying hard to impress the tourists that have and will come to see the games. New hockey stadiums were built and walls covered in graffiti (tags, really) were overlaid with graffiti art to help tourists navigate through the city better. I am proud of Slovakia, and there is no reason why Slovaks should be ashamed of anything on their part.
The image shows the traditional clothing of Slovakia. (another reason to be proud of slovakia, there is so much tradition and culture!!!)

The Last Day

This is the last day of my wait to embark on my journey back home!!! I am too excited. I still have some last minute errands to complete but I bet that at night, I will have trouble sleeping because of the impatience  to be at least an hour away from the landing and the excitement of all the adventures and happy moments that await me the minute I step off that plane. My excitement is pretty much illustrated in the picture of Marilyn Monroe by Philippe Halsman above.

Two

Only two days left until I leave. I can not believe the days go by so fast. I feel like I was just worried about getting my ticket on time, and that was about three weeks ago, so to be at the point where I am worried about packing everything I want is amazing. The departure is creeping up on me much like the "tree man" in the illustration by Arthur Rackham above.

One, two, three..

There are only three days left until my departure, and I am getting more impatient with each day. I have been busy with preparations though so hopefully the flight will "fly" by (pun intended).

Six days...

In six days I will depart to visit my homeland once again. I am very excited much like this happy monster by Maurice Sendak. When I received the confirmation to my ticket, I made a calendar so that I could tick off each day that elapsed and remind me that every day the wait for my journey gets shorter. So every morning I wake up and the first thing I do is happily scratch out the day that has passed. It's quite rewarding, it really makes you even more excited for the anticipated trip.

Slovakia, I love you!

In a few days, I will be returning to Slovakia, finally. It's been four months since I've left and it has been way too long. It is a beautiful country with even more wonderful people in it. There are a lot of wonderful people waiting there for me, especially my boyfriend whom I can not wait to see. The countdown starts today with only 7 days left until my departure.
