Winter Staple: The Turtleneck

'Tis the season to be bitterly cold, lalalala lala la. Since the snow and chills have been rolling in for the past couple of days, I developed a new obsession: turtlenecks. Not only are they super stylish and "in" this season, they also keep you and your neck super warm. I find that whenever my neck is exposed to the chilly breath of winter, my body is colder that much more. With turtlenecks, I can stay warm even inside (University classrooms feel like they're air-conditioned all year round!) without having to keep my scarf on and develop slight claustrophobia (scarves are restrictive ). They make you look so effortlessly cool and chic. It's a basic that is timeless and so versatile. You can dress them up or make yourself look casually chic with one.

I fell in love with this image of the Ramones. I just love the classic Chanel-esque fisherman stripe t-shirts juxtaposed with leather biker jackets and skinny jeans.

By now, even the not so fashion savvy are familiar with the iconic silhouette that brings only one fashion house to mind; Celine. The revolutionary shape has been featured everywhere, from fashion blogs, to gossip magazines featuring celebrities sporting the "Luggage Phantom" (as Celine has named the above creations).

Personally, it took a bit of getting used to. I love the thought of putting something that you desperately want to hide (if, for example your "ordinary" or shall we say a bag of a more classic silhouette pops the attention-whore-sides out ), into the attention of the outside world and making it something special and something that you want to show off rather than hide from the judgemental eyes of the public. I have to say though, that the two-toned "Luggage Mini" bags (above) are definitely my favourite and not such a huge fan of the "Luggage Phantom".

The other day, while I was browsing through my local Coach store, I was dumbfounded when I saw their new collection featuring the "Candace Carryall" which has a suspiciously similar silhouette to Celine's "Luggage" bags.

It's a less severe version of the Celine handbags which might appeal to the less extravagant fashionista. Not to mention the price tag of course; Coach will surely lure in a broader audience than the select few who can afford the luxuriously "spread out" Celine bags.

My question is: Is it ok for a label to copy a signature look from a luxury designer?

Luxurious Monaco

What comes to mind in relation to Monaco? Luxury. At the moment, I have spent about three days here and it is evident that people who visit and live in Monte Carlo like the finer things in life. Everyday a couple new yachts appear on the horizon while labels sparkle in the sunshine from every corner. This post is all about luxury goods that are more than swoon worthy.

Once a luxury item, the i-phone has now become a commodity, Vertu Phones on the other hand remain  under the "luxury goods" category. The phones above are from the new Constellation Candy Collection.

When oversized sunglasses came into fashion, I felt like I was walking around in a world full of people who have undergone eye surgery. Sunglasses in gigantic sizes have now become more than acceptable, if not essential. Here is a rose-gold version from Monaco's very own brand Zegg&Cerlati. They carry amazing luxury goods ranging from watches to eyewear.

Beats by Dr. Dre? No thank you- I prefer Prada! Have a look at these amazingly sleek and modern headphones by the Milanese fashion house Prada. Obviously portable music devices are essential when traveling. Anyone would look all the more "luxurious" sporting these.

Even though time does not matter when you're on vacation (well, except when you miss breakfast in the morning), I wouldn't mind wearing  this timepiece from the Ultimate Adornment collection from Harry Winston?! But then again, who wouldn't?

Faux/Real

While browsing Asos today, I stumbled upon these amazing jewelry pieces by Faux/Real. They are so simple yet vintage, modern, and striking all at the same time. It is quite an accomplishment fitting all of the characteristics into one piece of jewelry.

Mex Tex Overload

Loving this pattern trend.
Ps: My absolute favourites are #'s 1 and 5.

Have you seen the new H&M look book? Aren't these pieces gorgeous? I can not wait to get my hands on these pieces and wear them on my vacation.

This one is my favourite!

Go Mint or Go Home

Inspired by the colour of the walls in my room, I decided to feed my mint fever even more with a minty fashion/beauty collage. I love this colour, and can not wait to wear it the whole of spring and summer. I love how it looks with pastel hues of coral or deep browns and gold accessories.

1. Essie nail polish in Mint Candy Apple  2. Wilfred Casbah Pant (Don't you just love the name of these pants? - I'm a huge fan of The Clash) in Morning Mist  3. Wilfred Emmanuelle Dress also in Morning Mist  4. Marchesa Crystal-Embellished Silk-Chiffon Gown in Aqua  5. Asos Pyramid Metal Tip Clutch in Mint

Mitoufle

Oh, how much I love fashion history. Did you know that stockings were only invented in 1958? The stocking-panty in one combo, we know today was patented in France only in 1958! The most wonderful aspect about these first borns were their name, MITOUFLE! For some reason it makes me smile. It's such a cute name for something so essential and "boring" (in the we're-so-used-to-stockings-today-we-don't-think-about-them-anymore sense). When you think about it, what we consider as our winter essentials today, is quite a modern invention. The above ad for the invention says: "Every woman should have the real mitoufle. Exist in a soft, stretchy, (foam?=mousse), veil that does not slide off."

Marni for H&M!

This time, the innovative H&M has collaborated with the amazing fashion house of Marni to create a collection that is coming to the stores on the 8th of March.

Sexy Lounging

Many of us women, have a tendency to lounge around at home in an old, faded, and unloved shirt that we would never be caught dead wearing outside of our front door. Not only are the shirts usually unflattering and straight up ugly the bottoms are even more horrifying. I am one of these women. I don't really care what I wear at home as long as it's comfortable. This, I think is a MAJOR mistake on my part. Who says loungewear can't be sexy and feminine yet comfortable? I set out on a mission to find the perfect pieces to lounge around in, that will make you want to water your window plants all day long so you can show off your beautiful at-home outfit.

I've been loving kimonos since my fashion drawing teacher brought some into class for the students to draw. After that I always wanted to buy one but I could never really find one that I liked so I was thrilled when I found these kimono-esque robes. I would love to lounge around my house in these, especially in the summer. Just imagine the wind blowing through your hair and robe, tickling your freshly moisturized skin. It's making me feel sexy just thinking about it.

These chemises are so feminine and delicate, yet they look like dresses which I love. Just imagine walking on the dewy morning grass picking flowers for your breakfast table.

All Via anthropologie

Who doesn't like a sexy lingerie duo? With a simple white shirt or a soft oversized sweat shirt and thick socks, it would be perfect for your comfy yet sexy at home outfit satisfaction.

Personally, this is my ultimate favourite. There is something about long dresses or skirts (even though this is technically a chemise) that just make me feel like a fairy or a flower child. It brings up images of a beautiful woman with flowers in her hair running through a poppy flower field on a warm summer night.

Hope you enjoy. xoxo

Happy Birthday Kate

Since it is Kate Moss's birthday today I thought I would dedicate a post to the tremendously talented/beautiful model. How is it possible that she gets more and more beautiful as the years (and her age) progress? Take a look below.

So a very happy birthday Kate!

Pappi you're like a mocha

As i was surfing the internet looking for new and inspirational music to listen to I stumbled upon Shakira's Rambiosa ft. Pitbull. I'm usually not a fan of Pitbull or Shakira but this song knocked it out of the park for me.  I love music that makes you feel sexy, forces you to shake your bum wherever you may be, and empowers you as a woman. I decided to get inspired and imagine what a woman that embodies Rambiosa would wear.

The first thing that I thought of when envisioning the outfit of a Rambiosa inspired woman was the gorgeous jackets Spanish toreadors wear. I love the intricate designs that make the jackets so awe inspiring. I was so surprised when I found out that toreador jackets are included in many 2012 collections.
1. Moschino 2. Balmain 3. Balmain 4. Moschino  5. Dries Van Noten  6. Lady Gaga in March 2011 issue of Vogue, shot by Mario Testino

Shakira keeps on singing how her pappi resembles a mocha so I decided to pair the jackets with some beige coloured dresses. Considering that Shakira is Colombian, I decided to include printed dresses that resemble the prints used by traditional Colombian women.
1. Asos 2. Zara 3. Asos 4. Zara 5. Zara 6. Zara

Once again, when it comes to the accessories, I was inspired by the mocha colour Shakira sings about and the patterns of Colombian folk clothes.
All from Zara.
Colombian women. Notice the beautiful pattern on their belts.

Have a listen to Rabiosa.

Hope you enjoy the post! xo

Indo-Hippie

Just wanted to share these beautiful editorial spreads with you. I love the combination of the Indian elements with the hippie inspired hair and headband. Model Christina Tosio made it so easy for photographer Mario Sierra to capture such beautiful photos.
