School, as it were

Reading week is over and the workload is getting heavier and heavier this week, so I thought I'd post some vintage school photos in loving memory of the good old days of elementary school.

Hope you had a great Monday!!!

Pastel Genius

How amazing are these photographs by Joyce Tenneson!!!???!!! I love the pastel hues and the veil like texture of the photographs. They look surreal and convey so much emotion. There are so many possible ways in which one can analyze these photographs. An old man with a young angel. It may be a man dying with an angel helping him along the way to heaven. The gargoyle-like wing on the girl makes the context feel like it's a warning or somehow associated with water, a cleanse of some sort. The cleanse of the old man's sins before he is to enter heaven? Perhaps.

Groovy

Today was such a nice, sun filled day and it made me think of hippies. So I thought I'd share some vintage hippie pictures with you.

Have a groovy day! :)

Not Your Typical Book

How amazing are these books !!???!! The artist Brian Dettmer carves these out with surgical tools using only the images and text that are in the book he is carving! I love how imaginative these are.

Blurry Nationalism

I fell in love with these photographs of blurry FLAGS!!! Aren't they amazing!? I would love to hang these up in a completely white space.

Tangerine Tango

Versace Spring 2012
Pantone has announced Tangerine Tango the color of 2012. Since it is Fashion Week season, I thought I would take a look at the collections from New York Fashion Week and see which designers incorporated the color of the year into their collections.

Snow Art

We have all done our share of snow angels throughout our lives and personally I never get enough of their simple beauty.  Sonja Hinrichen has taken the "snow art" pastime to another level.

Take a look at the video she recorded while flying over the landscape pictured above here.

Album Love

2012 is becoming quite a year for music. There are so many awesome albums coming out. Here are two that I really like.

What Whitney Houston Taught Me

Via myona

After watching this video, I started thinking about relationships, especially abusive ones. Listening to Whitney talk about her horrible experience with Bobby made me realize one very important thing. For all of you women or men out there with husbands or wives, girlfriends or boyfriends cheating on you, take the example of Whitney. Let her words and her experience be the strength within you. Women (me included) or men tend to blame themselves for the cheating of their spouse. This is the worst thing you could do because in a lot of cases it is far from being the truth. When a man/woman decides to cheat on their partner, usually the problem is in the cheating person NOT the person who is being cheated on. Just like Whitney said, partners who decide to cheat do not deserve the love you give them, and it's only their loss. Eventually they will come around and realize that you were the best thing they could ever hope for and that they threw away a chance to be the happiest people alive. By this time though, you are so much happier than you could ever be with the cheating spouse. Isn't that the greatest revenge of all?
It's just amazing that even after her death, Whitney continues to move people in the right direction. Whitney was truly a superstar, and a woman to be worshipped.

RIP, you will truly be missed.

Sexy Lounging

Many of us women, have a tendency to lounge around at home in an old, faded, and unloved shirt that we would never be caught dead wearing outside of our front door. Not only are the shirts usually unflattering and straight up ugly the bottoms are even more horrifying. I am one of these women. I don't really care what I wear at home as long as it's comfortable. This, I think is a MAJOR mistake on my part. Who says loungewear can't be sexy and feminine yet comfortable? I set out on a mission to find the perfect pieces to lounge around in, that will make you want to water your window plants all day long so you can show off your beautiful at-home outfit.

I've been loving kimonos since my fashion drawing teacher brought some into class for the students to draw. After that I always wanted to buy one but I could never really find one that I liked so I was thrilled when I found these kimono-esque robes. I would love to lounge around my house in these, especially in the summer. Just imagine the wind blowing through your hair and robe, tickling your freshly moisturized skin. It's making me feel sexy just thinking about it.

These chemises are so feminine and delicate, yet they look like dresses which I love. Just imagine walking on the dewy morning grass picking flowers for your breakfast table.

Who doesn't like a sexy lingerie duo? With a simple white shirt or a soft oversized sweat shirt and thick socks, it would be perfect for your comfy yet sexy at home outfit satisfaction.

Personally, this is my ultimate favourite. There is something about long dresses or skirts (even though this is technically a chemise) that just make me feel like a fairy or a flower child. It brings up images of a beautiful woman with flowers in her hair running through a poppy flower field on a warm summer night.

Hope you enjoy. xoxo
